Spring Survey of Ancient History
“Where do we come from?”
“What are we?” “Where are we going?”
This course is designed for inquisitive and motivated middle and high school students. Our survey of ancient history will include the Paleolithic Age, the Neolithic Revolution, and the early civilizations of Mesopotamia, Egypt, and Greece. Throughout the course, we will focus on major themes of power, wealth, belief, technology, and the environment. We will explore economic, social, and political developments, as well as achievements in art, architecture, literature, religion, and philosophy.

Beginning January 29
through May 14, 2025
Wednesdays from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.
via ZOOM.

$200 for 14 sessions.

Fall Survey of European Middle Ages
Does the Middle Ages constitute a somewhat dark and hazy gap in your knowledge of the past?
Consider time-traveling to the Middle Ages this fall, and fill the gap with inspiring art and architecture, intriguing ideas, engrossing stories, and memorable characters!
This course, led by Crossroads Academy’s award-winning history teacher, Dr. Freeberg, will enable students to explore key developments during the Early, High, and Late Middle Ages, the wide range of influences that led to these developments, and the impact of the Middle Ages on the world we live in today.

Dr. Freeberg earned a B.A. in English from Colby College, a Master of Arts in Theological Studies from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and a P.H.D. in philosophy from Emory University. He has taught humanities at a number of colleges and has been teaching history to young people at Crossroads Academy since 2007. In 2011, he was selected as the New Hampshire History Teacher of the Year, and was one of five finalists for the National History Teacher of the Year.
