Code of Conduct

Crossroads Academy’s Code of Conduct flows naturally from our mission. This Code is built upon the premise that learning takes place within the context of a community. Through supportive interactions with faculty members and peers, we seek to create a safe and joyful learning environment that supports the education of the minds and hearts of our students.

Crossroads must be a safe place physically, emotionally, and intellectually for everyone. To that end, our Code of Conduct states that:

Respect for self means:
•    Showing self-control
•    Striving for academic and moral excellence
•    Summoning courage to do the right thing

Respect for others means:
•    Showing compassion, courtesy, patience, kindness, and forgiveness
•    Communicating thoughtfully
•    Sharing generosity of spirit

Respect for our community means:
•    Showing commitment to the School and its rules
•    Exercising honesty and stewardship
•    Protecting the learning environment

Our discipline policy is based on this Code.
•    Academic integrity is expected at all times.
•    Personal and School property are to be respected.
•    Respect for others is expected.
•    Possession of alcohol, tobacco, other drugs and substances normally forbidden to minors is prohibited.

It is expected that students will seek to work within the framework of this Code for it is in keeping with our mission and based on the tenets of the Core Virtues Program. Expectations for student behavior are clear, consistent, and appropriate to the age of the student. In the event of a disciplinary concern, parents will be notified. Faculty and, when necessary, administration will work with parents and students to assure that disciplinary actions are thoughtfully handled with a focus on student learning, logical consequences and making amends. We expect that parents will support the School in its commitment to the Code of Conduct. Suspensions, probation, in-house suspension, or expulsion from the School will be done at the discretion of the Head of School.
