From November 1 to November 30, the whole fifth grade class was challenged to take part in NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). The challenge was to write a novel of 10,000 words within the span of one month. The writing is all done online through the Young Writers Program at NaNoWriMo, which awards badges based on days spent writing and percentage of word count goal reached. The site also offers motivational videos and tools for finding new inspiration and overcoming writer’s block. We are proud to announce that two of our fifth graders completed the challenge in November! Ella L. wrote a novel titled The Wanderers and Lyla Eve wrote a novel titled Night Stranger. The two completed most of their writing on their own time, outside of school, and produced books that can be found in the library in the near future.
