Vaccine Update
Vaccination leading to immunity within our community and abroad is our best bet to get us out of this pandemic. Current models show we need 80 – 90 percent of a given population to be immune in order to bring transmissibility levels down and get us to the next level of normal. The two current vaccines, Pfizer and Moderna, are authorized for emergency use. Millions of Americans, including both of our school nurses, have been vaccinated and tolerated it well. Medical researchers have shown both authorized vaccines to be safe and effective to prevent or reduce the severity of symptoms of the coronavirus disease (covid-19).
Nurses at Crossroads get vaccinated
Last month, Kathy and I received our first dose of the Moderna vaccine at the New Hampshire National Guard Armory. All went well, and we are scheduled to get our second dose later this month. By getting vaccinated, Kathy and I are protecting ourselves, our families, and our broader community. As of now, Crossroads staff may expect to be offered vaccination some time between March – May 2021. Regardless of immunization status, all of us at Crossroads continue to be disciplined and committed to the mitigation layers that will help prevent infection or transmission of coronavirus while at school.
