Dear Crossroads Parents,
It’s time to come in out of the cold. That must be what the dedicated construction workers on our site must be thinking. Last week I watched as outer walls went up and shingles were nailed onto the roof of our new Middle School and science center. Soon, the noise we hear will diminish, as finish work inside the building begins. Our goal is to begin classes in this building in the fall. But today I want to write to you specifically about science in the past, present, and future.
In the recent past, our students have had the opportunity to practice science in their classrooms, in our science lab, and in the pristine New Hampshire Academy of Science Lab in our Barn. Many of our graduates have gone on to seek careers in technology, science and medicine. And that all began at Crossroads.
At present, two of our eighth graders, David V. and Roxane P. are preparing to present their original scientific research at the largest general science conference in the world, The American Association for the Advancement of Science. They will be joined by twenty-four other young scientists from twelve schools. Seven of these twenty-six students matriculated from Crossroads Academy. This is impressive.
As the spring approaches, you will learn more about future opportunities for your child to experience and explore science in our new building. These opportunities will be available to your child through collaboration with Dr. Faletra and his team from the New Hampshire Academy of Science. Their new headquarters will be in our new Middle School, Fanger Center, and will serve Crossroads students as well as students from all over the states of NH and VT.
Please read the press release for more information about this conference, and stand by for more news about programming in a future communication.
Warmly,
Jean
