For those of us who are fortunate to witness the progress on the new middle school daily, it is exciting to track a remarkable structure taking form—one that will not only expand the range for programmatic offerings at Crossroads but also unite the campus, connecting Klee and the Barn with Bancroft.  As the exterior work continues with the installation of siding, trim, and windows, Conneston Construction, Inc (CCI) is on schedule to have the shell of the building weather tight so work on the interior can continue during the coldest stretch of the year.  By the second week of February, additional essential work on the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing can begin.

The focus of these efforts will be on a phase of the construction that will be less visible to the community but will make the interior of the building come to life.  CCI has offered to give tours of the interior to students and faculty in March and early April so the community can begin to see classrooms taking shape! We hope that the opportunity to see a building midway through construction will be both interesting and informative for everyone who will be enjoying this building.  Even now, we can begin to anticipate inspiring classroom spaces with views of Bancroft and Lyme Hill facing north and beautiful playing fields to the west and south.

Everything is on track to open the building at the end of July, and as progress continues, we will keep the community informed. As a final step, we are awaiting some draft options for landscaping plans for the campus and area where the existing middle school trailer is situated. This structure will be removed when the Fanger Center is finished, providing additional green space and playing fields that can further enhance the south and west sides of the campus. We are eager to share updates, particularly as the building’s shell is complete and the interior work provides a stronger vision for the day when teachers and students will make the Fanger Center come to life.
