Dear Parents,
I hope that you found our spring break to be refreshing and relaxing. We look forward to sharing our spring events and programs with you as the final weeks of school unfold. But meanwhile, we have a lot to share about what’s been happening recently!
Just before break, a video production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream topped the special events in grade five. They were also excited about their study of feudal Japan. Kindergarteners experienced a royal tea (actually it was mostly lemon in the form of lemonade, but the cookies were real!) as they wound up their unit on kings, queens, and Europe. First grade enjoyed a publishing party to celebrate their How-To Books and created color poems, complete with artwork and lovely lyrical language. (This was a clever way to teach about nouns and adjectives!) Second graders were hopping, flying, and crawling with excitement as they filmed their insect show. Third graders, while learning about gravity, participated in an egg drop. Ms. V affectionately referred to the students as “egg-stronomers.” Fourth graders were visited by King George and a tax collector who demanded taxes from them. Yes, they are studying the American Revolution. And as expected, they were not happy about those taxes! Middle School students have been immersed in final preparation for this year’s musical.
What fun we are having.
Warmly,
Jean
