Dear Parents,

May is a time for looking forward. Our Eighth Graders are looking forward to their musical, graduation, and to the new opportunities and challenges ahead of them. Fifth graders are looking forward to joining the Middle School, and Middle Schoolers in grades 6 and 7 are excited about moving into the Fanger Center. Everyone is looking forward to saying goodbye to the trailers! We are so grateful to Mr. Choyt, the NH Academy of Science, and to everyone who supported this project and are making this dream come true. Thank you one and all.

Meanwhile, all of our teachers are beginning to dream about the year ahead. Can you believe it? We have just a few weeks left in the school year. As we prepare for the new year, a few of our employees have been hoping for a wish fairy. Might you like to be one or support one of these wishes?

Mr. Martin is looking for five pieces of pressure treated plywood, ¾ inch thick and 4’ x 8’ in size. He wants to re-face the ball wall located on the Klee hot top.

Ms. Nadeau is dreaming of a class set of portable easels so she can take classes outside. Click here to see the class set she is interested in.

Mrs. Burkhart is hoping to pilot a sugaring program next year as part of Kinder’s Native American Core Knowledge Language Arts Unit. If we have the trees they need, they will try it out! Useful to this project would be a wood-fired sap evaporator similar to the one seen here.

Mrs. Martin’s class will be moving downstairs to the former science room in the Klee Building. She is looking for a nice new or used 9 x 12 area rug of any color to warm the room and make it inviting for the students.

Miss O’Leary would love some Bucket Drumming Kits. With singing still up in the air for at least the start of next year, bucket drumming is an amazing and accessible way to create an energetic and engaging ensemble. By taking bucket music to the next level, both the Lower and Middle Schools would find this way of engaging with music accessible and fun! Here is a video advertising the product and sound: Bucket drumming

We could also use: Drum Heads, drum sticks, buckets (ordinary 5 or 7 gallon buckets from anywhere). In general, Miss O’Leary would find funding of any instruments to be amazing. Hand bells, glockenspiels, musical beanbags, colorful scarves, rhythm sticks, drums, non-pitched percussion, or any instruments/musical materials that are meaningful to them are going to be more than welcomed.

Mr. Freeberg’s Garden Club is looking for some support. They hope to raise vegetables to donate to food pantries this summer. They are looking for compost and lumber for raised beds. If you would like to help, please contact Mr. Freeberg at bruce.freeberg@crossroadsacademy.org.

Here’s to a lovely week ahead,

Jean
