Ah, coloring. This fun and simple activity has so many benefits for kids. Coloring can help younger ones develop motor skills, encourage concentration, and foster creative expression. For older kids, coloring offers a moment of meditation, a chance to slow down and relax without the use of screens. This coloring book was created during middle school clubs. Each week students gathered and collaborated in the art room as we discussed highlights and traditions of our school. This coloring book is a culmination of all their creative efforts resulting in clever artistic visual representations for both the Lower and Middle school. The students’ goals were to create a book that all would enjoy, while revisiting (and highlighting) past memories and traditions and to have rising students anticipate creating them in the future!

We hope everyone enjoys coloring in the pages and adding their own artistic touch!

Fun fact: The McLoughlin Brothers are credited as the inventors of the coloring book, in the 1880s, they produced The Little Folks’ Painting Book, in collaboration with Kate Greenaway. They continued to publish coloring books until the 1920s, when the McLoughlin Brothers became part of the Milton Bradley Company.
