At Crossroads since 2012
Hi, my name is Ms. Heather Verheeck, and I have been working at Crossroads Academy since 2012. I am a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University where I received my master’s degree in Elementary Education, my bachelor’s degree in English Literary Studies, and a minor in Children’s Studies. Additionally I hold a Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing in the state of New Jersey. Upon completing my graduate work, I student taught third grade in a large public school in Ringwood, New Jersey. From the very first day of school, I knew that third grade was my ideal grade to teach.
Teaching third grade is not only a joy but a privilege. Third graders are at a unique age where they are ready to explore with little direction, but they still need you for guidance. There is nothing like seeing a smile on a student’s face when they have an “ah-ha” moment. The Core Knowledge and Core Virtues Programs are what first drew me to Crossroads. I feel very strongly about building character as well as knowledge.
