Ms. Squire teaches multiple sections of Pre-Algebra, Algebra and Geometry, and chairs the Crossroads Math Department. She holds a Bachelors of Science in Applied Mathematics/Computer Science from Northwestern University, where she attended as an AT&T Engineering Scholar. Later, as a student in the Applied Math PhD program at the University of Virginia (UVA), she completed select courses before leaving for the Peace Corps to serve as a Technology Volunteer in Zimbabwe. Ms. Squire’s resume also includes Pre-Algebra/Algebra teacher at the Lyme School, Camp Director and Marketer for the Farm & Wilderness Foundation, and Coordinator of Pre-College Initiatives at the UVA Engineering School’s Office of Minority Programs. Among her favorite pastimes are activities with her children, running & biking on trails, and singing with fellow Lyme musicians around the Upper Valley. In 2016, she traveled to NYC’s 151 West 26th Street to audition for Hamilton.
In her math program, Ms. Squire works with students to become organized critical thinkers and proficient mathematical problem solvers who have developed awareness of mathematics’ place in history, culture, and the real world applications of science, technology and engineering. She aims to deliver lessons that connect abstract thought to concrete algorithms, while also inspiring students’ appreciation for mathematics, commitment to civil service, and stewardship of our planet.
