At Crossroads since 2006
My name is Marjorie Martin, and I joined the Crossroads Faculty in 2006 after having taught on Long Island at The Green Vale School for twenty-five years. My graduate work was completed at CW Post University in Old Brookville, New York where I received my master’s degree in Early Childhood Education.
Teaching second grade has been my lifelong passion, and at Crossroads I have the daily joy of working with enthusiastic children, supportive parents, and a rich program of study. I am especially committed to our Core Virtues curriculum as it enriches every unit I teach. As we read fictional stories and learn about people we encounter in our science and history units, we discuss the virtues of hope, courage, compassion, perseverance, honesty, and service. As the children begin each new school day, they strive to live by these words:
Our Pledge to the School
We pledge to treat each other with respect, to stand up for each other and be benevolent bystanders, to keep our school a safe and positive place for everyone, to protect and care for our learning environment, to work hard, develop our talents, and strive for excellence. We want to do the right thing because it’s the right thing to do, even when no one is looking! We are the Crossroads Academy second graders, and this is our pledge.
